US President Joe Biden has withdrawn from the race for the presidential election in November.

According to the Reuters news agency, President Biden's withdrawal from the presidential election race on Sunday as the candidate of the Democratic Party came due to the party leadership's lack of confidence in him and his health.

President Joe Biden wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that he will continue his duties as president and commander in chief until his term expires in January 2025.

He said that this week he will address the nation.

"Serving you as president is the greatest honor of my life," Biden said. Although I intend to contest the re-election, it is in the best interest of the party and the country that I withdraw as a candidate and concentrate on fulfilling my responsibility as President for the rest of my term.

This is the first time in the history of the United States that a black woman will be a presidential candidate.

Biden's withdrawal from the race comes after pressure from members of the House of Commons and the Democratic Party to leave the race.

Pressure on President Biden to withdraw as the party's nominee has increased significantly after his poor performance in the presidential debate against rival candidate Donald Trump on the 27th of last month.
