Paris: The Paris Olympics officially started with a colorful opening ceremony. In the opening ceremony, around 10,500 athletes in a 3.5-mile-long fleet of 94 boats made an unconventional descent down the famous Seine River in Paris.

World-famous singers Lady Gaga and Celine Dian created the magic of sound at the opening ceremony of the biggest sports event held in Paris. Around 3000 artists performed in the event.

After arriving on the boats, the pallbearers representing the athletes from each country participating in the Olympics lined up down the Eiffel Tower for the Olympic anthem, the raising of the Olympic flag and the lighting of the Olympic torch.

In the opening ceremony, troops from different countries arrived in an unconventional manner. The Pakistani contingent arrived on a boat along with the troops of four other countries. Apart from the Pakistani contingent, there were also New Zealand, Oman, Uganda and Uzbekistan on the boat.
